Custom Tooling & Form Tools

The engineering secret behind our ultra-fast Traub turning speeds. Operating in Faridabad, Annectotech LLP designs, grinds, and heat-treats custom high-speed steel (HSS) form tools, circular form tools, and mechanical cam setups that combine multiple machining passes into a single, rapid plunge.

Combining Multiple Operations into One Single Cut.

When machining automotive spare parts by the hundreds of thousands, standard single-point CNC cutting tools are far too inefficient. Tracing an intricate shaft profile with a standard tool point requires multiple passes, consuming valuable cycle time and increasing machine wear.

At Annectotech LLP, our competitive edge lies in our mastery of Custom Form Tooling. Our tool room in Faridabad designs and precision-grinds High-Speed Steel (HSS) and carbide form tools whose cutting edges mirror the exact reverse contour of your finished part. When deployed on our cam-operated Traub automatic lathes, a form tool plunges into the spinning bar stock, cutting chamfers, radii, grooves, and outer diameters simultaneously in a matter of seconds.

  • Massive Cycle Time Reduction: Machine complex two-wheeler and four-wheeler pins in a fraction of standard CNC cycle times.
  • Absolute Profile Consistency: The geometry is ground directly into the solid steel tool, eliminating digital software drift across massive batches.

Specialized Cutting Tool Portfolio

We manufacture and maintain a comprehensive array of high-precision cutting tools tailored specifically for automated bar stock turning.

Flat Form Tools

Precision-ground HSS and carbide blade tools utilized on Traub cross-slides. Engineered with optimal clearance angles to cut multi-stepped outer diameters and O-ring grooves instantly.

Circular Form Tools

Round form tools that offer exceptionally long operational life. When a cutting edge dulls, the tool is simply rotated slightly to expose a fresh, razor-sharp edge without needing a complete remanufacture.

Custom Drills & Reamers

Step-drills and sub-land reamers fabricated to bore multi-diameter internal cavities and chamfer hole entrances in a single axial plunge on our secondary drilling machines.

Cam Setups & Collets

We design and machine custom steel drive cams and hardened gripping collets that govern tool feed rates and hold raw bar stock with zero slippage under heavy turning torque.

Optical Grinding & Profile Verification.

A form tool is only as good as the machine that grinds it and the instrument that measures it. In our Faridabad tool room, we utilize high-precision cylindrical and surface grinding machinery equipped with diamond and CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) grinding wheels to shape tool steels to exacting geometries.

To guarantee that a form tool will produce parts within your required CAD tolerance, every single tool undergoes rigorous optical inspection on our Profile Projectors (Optical Comparators) at 50x to 100x magnification. We verify rake angles, clearance relief, and micro-radii down to the micron before the tool is certified for production deployment.

  • Tool Grinding Accuracy: ± 0.002 mm (± 2 µm)
  • Optical Magnification Check: 50x / 100x Profile Projector
  • Tool Heat Treatment: Vacuum Hardened & Tempered

How We Engineer Form Tools

A highly structured process that transforms your component blueprint into a physical, high-speed cutting instrument.

01

Profile Inversion

Our tool designers take your CAD drawing and digitally invert the outer profile to create the exact cutting edge geometry required for the form tool.

02

Rough Grinding

Hardened HSS or Tungsten Carbide blanks are rough-ground to establish the foundational angles, rake clearances, and mounting dovetails.

03

Optical Finish Grinding

The tool undergoes microscopic finish grinding using diamond wheels, strictly monitored under optical magnification to lock in the final profile.

04

First-Article Inspection

The tool is loaded onto a Traub machine. A pilot part is cut and immediately inspected to certify that the tool produces a 100% accurate component.

Tool Steel & Metallurgy Selection Matrix

We match the metallurgical grade of our cutting tools to the abrasiveness and tensile strength of the automotive bar stock being machined.

Tool Material Grade Operating Hardness Abrasion & Heat Resistance Target Automotive Machining Application
M2 High-Speed Steel (HSS) 63 - 65 HRC High toughness; excellent edge retention. General purpose form turning of EN8 and EN1A mild steel automotive shafts and spacers.
M35 Cobalt HSS (5% Co) 65 - 67 HRC Superior red hardness; resists high heat. High-speed turning of abrasive stainless steel (SS 304/316) exhaust and brake fittings.
Tungsten Carbide (K10 / P20) 70 - 75 HRC Maximum wear resistance; ultra-rigid. Long-run continuous turning of brass electrical connectors and abrasive cast aluminum parts.
TiN / TiAlN Coated HSS Surface 80+ HRC Drastically lowered surface friction. High-volume automated runs where tool wear must be kept to absolute zero across 100,000+ parts.

How Custom Form Tools Slash Your Component Costs

When an OEM approaches us to manufacture a stepped two-wheeler transmission pin, standard machining quotes from CNC competitors are often inflated by lengthy machine cycle times. By investing in a custom HSS form tool engineered specifically for your part, Annectotech LLP condenses three separate roughing, semi-finishing, and grooving passes into a single 4-second plunge cut on our Traub automatic lathes. This drastic reduction in machine hours directly lowers our manufacturing cost—savings that we pass directly back to you in our highly competitive piece-price quotations.
